Kianna Price is an American journalist, Lifestyle Host/ Project Specialist at WFXR News. She is also the on-air radio personality and program director of ViBE 100.1 FM while also hosting local TV shows like Cox Cable’s Round Roanoke and WDBJ7’s Your Hometown Happenings. She is honored to have received the SCLC Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Service Award; the Media Award for Black Girls Rock; and the Roanoke Branch of NAACP Citizen of the Year Award for Media. Kianna worked as an intern reporter for the ABC affiliate in Baltimore, MD and in Richmond, VA for the CBS affiliate. After 7 years as a Pharmaceutical Sales Rep, Kianna followed her passion for broadcasting and community service. She was offered a full-time position as Promotions Director and Mid-Day DJ for 1001.1/ 97.7FM– The Vibe. In 2012 she was promoted to Program Director for the Vibe. Her career has afforded her the opportunity to interview various celebrities from Magic Johnson, Vice-President Joe Biden, and Vivica Fox to John Legend. The highlight of her career has been interviewing President Barack Obama and later, First Lady Michelle Obama!
Since 2008 Kianna has worked in multi-media formats including hosting a local TV community events show for Cox Cable for 7 years. As well as started and hosted a weekly segment for WDBJ7, your Hometown Happenings. In 2016, she ventured into print media as a freelance writer for Colors VA magazine. She is also a Stella and Dot Independent Business Owner, an accessories lifestyle brand.
Community involvement has always been important to her as she currently serves on the board of The Jefferson Center, Chairperson of Apple Ridge Farm, member of the Roanoke City Arts Commission, and is a founding member and current President of the Urban Professional League (UPL). She’s a member of various civic organizations including “Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.;” “The Roanoke Valley Chapter of Links, Inc;” and President of The Roanoke Chapter of Jack & Jill of America”.
Kianna is honored to have been asked to help raise funds for some incredible non-profit organizations in the Valley. Over the last 3 years, she has raised thousands of dollars for the Salvation Army, VA Blue Ridge Susan G. Komen Foundation, Roanoke City Public School’s Healthy Cooking and Nutrition Program, and Family Service of Roanoke Valley. In each campaign, there were creative efforts to raise the funds. From dancing Salsa and lip singing, to waiting tables and wearing a hot pink wig for a month for breast cancer awareness, Kianna willing serves her community is very creative and fun ways. However, her main goal is to draw awareness to these causes while generating revenue so these organizations can continue their great works.
She is honored to have received the SCLC Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Service Award; the Media Award for Black Girls Rock; and the Roanoke Branch of NAACP Citizen of the Year Award for Media. In 2015 she was selected to be in a national magazine, “Radio Ink” featuring future African American Leaders in radio. She has also had the honor of singing the National Anthem at the Virginia State Capital Building on two occasions and in 2012 for President Bill Clinton at President Barack Obama’s Grassroots Event in Roanoke. Her proudest accomplishments, however, is being the mother of her 11-year-old daughter and 8-year-old son. Kianna is thankful for the various opportunities God has placed before her and is honored to continue to serve her hometown.
